Dreams

Sleep is hard to come by
The nights seem so long
My hopes all but die
Life is now so wrong
Three weeks have gone by
Since I learned my fate
At night I just cry
Since that terrible date
Two dreams have come to me
Much to my surprise
That good dreams could still be
Counted among my allies
The first dream was of you
We started kissing passionately
I asked if you were sure
You smiled and continued zealously
I don’t remember dreams
But this one sticks in mind
I hope I can redeem
Myself, for of my unkind
One other dream survived
For me to think about
Our love fully revived
Making love til worn-out
I know these are just dreams
And may not have value
But now my heart screams
“Dreams can come true”

Still Missing the Point
Posted by poet on August 4, 2008 · Leave a Comment
Reading the poems
I left on your bed
You thought I was
Messing with your head
What did they mean
You seemed so confused
Wondering how I meant
Those poems to be used
You asked some questions
And I tried to reply
But I may not have been
Clear as to what and why
You’re still missing the point
My love hasn’t wavered
My dreams are the same
Our life together, savored
I have given God my broken dreams
And am trusting in HIM
To fix and to mend
I’m out on a limb
I’m patiently waiting
For God to mold my dreams
Into HIS will
As strange as it seems
I’ve tried to fix things
On my own before
But the patch was short
Not there for more
Wanting another chance
Too see for myself
That you’re not still missing the point

Anyway

A poem that Mother Teresa had framed on her wall
People are unreasonable, illogical and self-centered
… love them anyway
If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives
… do good anyway
If you are successful, you will with false friends and true enemies
… be successful anyway
The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow
… do good anyway
Honesty and frankness will make you vulnerable
… be honest and frank anyway
People love underdogs but follow top dogs
… follow some underdogs anyway
What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight
… build anyway
People really need help but may attack you if you try to help
… help people anyway
If you give the world the best you have, you may get kicked in the teeth
… but give the world the best you have
… ANYWAY

Understand Nothing – Believe in a Purpose
Posted by poet on August 4, 2008 · Leave a Comment
“How can you not be mad?”
“It must hurt like hell.”
They just don’t understand
“How can she date”
“Flaunting it in his face”
They just don’t understand
I was never quite sure
How I would react
They thought they understood
I surprised myself
Making it this far
They thought they understood
I try to explain
The depth of my love
Now they are confused
My love transcends
My own personal needs
Now they are confused
It all comes down to this
Understand Nothing
Believe in a Purpose

Not a Perfect Man

I am not a perfect man
Nor do I pretend to be
Still I will do what I can
To be what you want of me
